Japanese Speaking Working Group

The ISFG Japanese Speaking Working Group (JSWG), which had been inactive, is being reactivated under a new framework. In October 2025, a DNA Working Group was established within the Japanese Society of Legal Medicine (JSLM). This group now serves as the primary contact and coordinating body for the JSWG, taking over the role previously held by the Japanese Society for DNA Polymorphism Research (JSDPR).

Aims

Through these activities, the group seeks to strengthen collaboration within Japan and enhance engagement with the international forensic genetics community.

01
Promote high-quality research activities in forensic DNA analysis
02
Advance DNA typing and interpretation practices in line with international standards
03
Foster and secure the next generation of forensic DNA specialists

Transition of Coordination

Previously, the JSWG was coordinated through the JSDPR. The JSWG is currently coordinated by the DNA Working Group of the JSLM, with continued involvement of the JSDPR, ensuring closer integration with broader forensic medical practice and education in Japan.

Recent Activities

A study meeting was held in December 2025 as part of the reactivation of the JSWG.
